Theme: Economic Development to Improve Welfare
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
Date: Late May / Early June 2013
Objectives: 1. Understand the vision behind these institutions effort to improve welfare, 2. Capture the transformational story of the people affected, and 3. Outline potential partnership between FICA and these institutions.
Background
Discovery trip has two purposes: 1. Create Bridge between us in the US and key people in Indonesia and 2. Explore potential partnership that would be discussed during OMC. DT provides us opportunity to network with leading organizations in specific fields. This opportunity enables us to comprehend the reality and articulate action plans in these areas in Indonesia. Related to OMC XX, we want to understand how economic development improves local welfare especially in rural areas of Indonesia.
Secondly, FICA as community and organization is always looking to partner with local organizations in Indonesia. This year FICA is specifically looking for partner to help us write the profile of local Christian organizations in Indonesia. FICA wants to fill the needs and tell the story of how God uses these organizations to transform individual lives.
Participant Eligibility:
- Born Again Christian
- Have served in ICF or local Churches
- Willing to prepare for DT
- Have interest in serving Indonesia in the future
Pre-DT
We will meet several times via conference call to discuss the reading and interview questions. Please let Ivan Santoso (ivan_k_s@yahoo.com) knows if you want to participate in this year DT by 4/30/2013.
DT
We will video and document the interview. We will edit and use the video for discussion in OMC XX.
Post DT
We will report the DT in Temu Milis. This report will include personal sharing.
