2003 DT III: The Need to Care to Understand the Worldview

Indonesia is in the era of restoration following the reformation and transformation eras.  We are no longer debating about the constitution or rights.  Instead we debate the optimum way to build mass transportation or to mitigate flooding.  Since the people can elect their representatives and governors, the elected officials have to earn the vote beyond bribe and through hard work.  All the systems we are enjoying now had not become the law of the land and were still debated back in early 2000.

2002 DTII: The Year We Bridge the Wall

2002 was a busy year for the Discovery Trip team in FICA.  In that year, FICA conducted 2 Discovery Trips to comprehend the aspiration of Muslims and to understand civil society.  These topics were chosen based on the context of the time.

2001 DT I: Lessons from Spending a Day with People without Homes

We were fortune enough to be able to spend Christmas with about 600 people without homes in 2001.  These homeless people came from every corner of Jakarta.  The celebration was held in Wisma Kinasih in Puncak, West Java.  The venue was organized by Campus Diakonia Modern or KDM.  In that day, we could see the faces behind the numbers we often read in the news.  Their smiles melted our heart and blessed our soul.  We felt that we were being ministered by them that day.  They showed us the reality that life was hard and injustice was real.
